The Board of Audit and Inspection has notified a current public official, Mr. A, from the Seogwipo City Hall of his dismissal due to embezzlement of public materials and related funds.

According to the 2023 Audit results by the Board of Audit and Inspection, Mr. A, responsible for accounting tasks, diverted approximately 12 million won on ten occasions from 2018 to December 2021.

It was revealed that the embezzled funds were used for personal purposes. Mr. A did not present any argument against the audit findings and has reportedly returned the embezzled amount.

Seogwipo City, currently having suspended Mr. A from his position, plans to convene a personnel committee to decide the level of disciplinary action.

감사원이 공개한 2023년 공직비리 기동감찰 결과에 따르면
A씨는 회계업무를 담당하며
지난 2018년부터 2021년 12월까지
10차례에 걸쳐
1천 200만 원 상당의 돈을 빼돌린 것으로 확인됐습니다.

횡령한 돈을 개인적 용도에 사용한 것으로 드러났고
감사원의 감사 결과에
별다른 의견을 제시하지 않고
횡령 금액도 반환한 것으로 전해졌습니다.

서귀포시는
현재 직위해제 상태인 A씨에 대해
조만간 인사위원회를 열어 징계 수위를 결정할 예정입니다.
