The Jeju Police Agency is intensifying its crackdown on the illegal cultivation of poppies, which contain narcotic substances.

As poppy flowering season coincides with marijuana harvesting season, drones and police helicopters will be patrolling around the mid-mountain regions of Mount Halla and nearby farms until July.

This year's enforcement efforts have already resulted in the seizure of approximately 300 naturally grown poppies, with an additional 2,600 poppies confiscated in areas such as Jocheon(조천), Hallim(한림), and Seogwipo.

The police are focusing on areas where poppies have been previously found while also urging the public to report any sightings to emergency number 112.

한라산 중산간지역과 농장 주변을 항공 순찰할 예정입니다.

올해 단속에서 자생 양귀비 300여 주를 비롯해
조천과 한림 서귀포 일대 에서 2천 6백여 주를 압수했습니다.

경찰은
과거 양귀비가 발견됐던 지역을 중심으로
불법 재배 순찰을 강화하는 한편
양귀비를 발견하면 112로 신고해달라고 당부했습니다.
