Due to the economic downturn and lack of quality jobs, the increase in employment in Jeju is slowing.

According to the Jeju Office of Statistics Korea, the number of employed people in the province last month was 404,000, an increase of 1,000 compared to the same month last year. However, the rate of increase has slowed, with 1,000 fewer people employed compared to May.

The construction industry's downturn continues to affect temporary and daily workers, who are among the most vulnerable in the job market.



6월 취업자 1천명 늘어…고용 취약계층 '감소세'

경기 침체와 양질의 일자리 부족 등으로
제주지역 취업자 증가세가 둔화되고 있습니다.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면
지난달 도내 취업자 수는 40만 4천명으로
지난해 같은 달과 비교해 1천명 증가했습니다.

하지만 취업자 증가폭은
지난 5월보다 1천명 감소하는 등
계속해서 축소되고 있습니다.

특히 건설업 부진이 이어지면서
고용 취약계층인 임시·일용 근로자 감소세가
이어지고 있는 것으로 나타났습니다.
