The minimum wage in South Korea has surpassed 10,000 won for the first time in history.

The Minimum Wage Commission held its 11th plenary session at the Sejong Government Complex on the 12th and decided to set next year's minimum wage at 10,030 won through voting.

This represents a 1.7% increase from this year, the second-lowest increase rate in history following a 1.5% increase in 2021.

It marks the first time that South Korea's minimum wage has reached 10,000 won since the system was introduced in 1988, 37 years ago.

최저임금위원회는
지난12일 정부세종청사에서
제11차 전원회의를 열고 투표를 거쳐
내년 최저임금을 1만 30원으로 결정했습니다.

이는 올해보다 1.7% 오른 것으로
지난 2021년 1.5%에 이어 역대 두 번째로 낮은 상승률입니다.

우리나라 최저임금이 1만원대를 기록하는 것은 1988년 최저임금 제도 도입 이후 37년 만에 처음입니다.
