Green Hydrogen Faces New Challenges

The green hydrogen demonstration period ended last month, with economic feasibility and renewable energy certification emerging as key challenges.

At a briefing held today at Jeju Provincial Hall, Jeju Energy Corporation it was revealed that over the past year, 16% of the renewable energy produced at the Haengwon Wind Power Complex was used to produce green hydrogen.

While the demonstration successfully verified green hydrogen production, further analysis is needed to determine production and supply costs, as there are still few uses for green hydrogen. They also mentioned exploring power purchase agreements for renewable energy certification.
