500+ attend Thursday morning opening ceremony

Hundreds of people gathered at the Shilla Hotel Thursday morning for the opening ceremony of the 3rd Asia Cruise Forum.

Minister of Oceans and Fisheries (유기준) Yu Gi-jun, Governor Won Heeryong, and representatives of international cruise lines were among the more than 500 attendees.

The minister said his office plans to allow cruise tourists to stay on the island for 72 hours without the need for a visa. By the year 2020, Yu also wants Jeju to have nine ports with a total of 13 berths for vessels.

This was the first year organizers handed out the Asia Cruise Awards. Costa Cruise was named Asia’s top cruise line, the Singapore Cruise Centre was singled out as the region’s best home port, and the the Port of Hakata, in Fukuoka, Japan was lauded as Asia’s top port of call.

제3회 제주국제크루즈포럼 개회식 열려

제3회 제주국제크루즈포럼 개회식이 오늘(27일) 오전 제주신라호텔에서 열렸습니다.

오늘 개회식에는 유기준 해양수산부 장관과 원희룡 지사, 크루즈 관계자 등 500여 명이 참석했습니다.

이 자리에서 유기준 해양수산부 장관은 크루즈 관광 활성화를 위해 크루즈 관광객이 72시간 동안 무비자로 입국을 허가하는 관광상륙허가제를 도입하고 크루즈선 전용부두를 오는 2020년까지 9개 항만 13선석으로 확대하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

이와 함께 올해 처음으로 도입된 '아시아크루즈어워드'에서 아시아 우수 크루즈 선사에 코스타크루즈가 모항은 싱가포르 크루즈센터, 기항지는 일본 후쿠오카 하카타항 등이 수상했습니다.
