Jeju, Gyeonggi governors vow to cooperate on 14 issues

The governors of Jeju and Gyeonggi will sign an agreement on the last day of August detailing their pledge to work together on a number of issues.

Won Heeryong and (남경필) Nam Kyung-pil are agreeing to collaborate on 14 inter-province projects, spread out among five categories. The categories include support for startups targeting emerging overseas markets, the supply of ingredients and food for school lunches, and tourism exchanges.

After signing the agreement, Gyeonggi Governor Nam will give a special lecture entitled “Creating Global Standards with Jeju.” He will also visit a wind farm in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo to get a firsthand look at the island’s renewable energy initiatives.

This will be the Won administration’s second such intergovernmental agreement. He signed one with the mayor of Seoul in February.

원희룡 제주특별자치도지사와 남경필 경기도지사가 오는 31일 제주도청에서 상생 협력을 맺습니다.

원 지사와 남 지사는 신흥 해외시장을 겨냥한 창업 공동지원 플랫폼 구축과 학교 급식 농산물 상호공급 협력, 도민 관광교류 활성화 등 5개 분야 14개 사항에 대한 공동추진을 약속할 예정입니다.

협약 체결 후 남경필지사는 제주도청 탐라홀에서 공무원들을 상대로 '제주와 함께 만드는 글로벌 스탠더드'를 주제로 특강을 하고 서귀포시 표선면 풍력단지를 찾아 신재생에너지사업 추진 현황도 견학할 예정입니다.

제주도가 민선 6기 이후 다른 광역자치단체와 업무협약을 맺기는 지난 2월 서울시에 이어 경기도가 두번쨉니다.
