Chuseok crackdown on substandard mandarins
Inspections through October 10

With Chuseok just a couple of weeks away now, officials are beefing up a crackdown on substandard mandarins.

In response to growing concerns over the circulation of artificially-colored fruit, the province has formed a joint investigative team and dispatched it to farms and fruit sorting facilities. They began work Thursday, and will continue it through October 10th.

The inspectors are focusing on locations that are known for violations.

In related news, provincial officials recently had a meeting with representatives from the Jeju Provincial Citrus Marketing and Shipping Association. The two sides decided to start shipping outdoor-grown mandarins October 5th.

추석을 전후해 비상품감귤 유통행위에 대한 단속이 강화됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 추석을 맞아 덜 익은 감귤을 수확해 강제 착색 후 출하할 우려가 있음에 따라 감귤유통지도 합동단속반을 편성해 운영합니다.

특히 내일(10일)부터 다음달 10일까지 비상품 또는 후훅 감귤 출하가 상습적인 지역과 감귤선과장을 집중단속할 예정입니다.

제주도는 최근 감귤출하연합회 전체회의를 통해 올해산 노지감귤을 다음달 5일부터 출하하기로 결정한 바 있습니다.
