Seoul vows to help speed up process to build second airport
Governor voices concerns during meeting with deputy PM

The national government says it will cooperate to the greatest extent possible in speeding up the process of building Jeju’s second airport.

On Wednesday, Governor Won Heeryong sat down in Seoul with Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy (최경환) Choi Kyung-hwan and said he was concerned about the inconvenience and safety issues that would arise until the new airport opens in 2025. He requested that the building process be shortened as much as possible.

The deputy prime minister reportedly said he agreed with the concerns and that the central government would do whatever it could to streamline the process.

제2공항 건설과 관련된 절차를 최대한 단축시켜달라고 공식 요청했습니다.

이에 최 부총리는 사안의 시급성에 대해 공감한다며, 정부에서 도울 수 있는 건 적극 도와 최대한 시간을 단축하겠다고 답했습니다.
