Seogwipo population reaches 170,000
Up 10,000 since April

The population in Seogwipo has just surpassed 170,000.

According to the city, the population began to decline in 2006, when Jeju was granted semi-autonomy. It started to increase again in 2010, with 170,019 being the most current figure. The population has risen by about 10,000 since April.

Seogwipo officials say that, at the current pace, 200,000 people will be living within its borders within the next three years.

<서귀포시 인구 17만 명 돌파>

서귀포시 인구가 17만명을 넘어섰습니다.

서귀포시에 따르면, 서귀포시 인구는 2006년 특별자치도 출범 이후 감소세를 보이다2010년부터 증가세로 돌아선 이후 현재 17만명을 넘어선 17만 19명을 기록하고 있습니다.

지난해 4월 16만명을 넘어선 지1년 8개월 사이에 1만명이 늘어난 것입니다.

서귀포시는이 같은 상승 추세가 이어진다면 3년 뒤에는 20만 명을 넘어설 것으로 내다보고 있습니다.
