The government will give farmland and housing to residents who will be affected by land expropriation for the construction of Jeju’s second airport in Seongsan. The paper says this will be a major expenditure.

The Jemin Ilbo is reporting on (고민자) Go Min-ja, who looks set to be named the island’s first female fire chief in the 70-year history of the local fire department.

The provincial educational office announced at a Tuesday press conference that local high schools will select students based solely on middle school performance beginning in December 2018 .

Moderate earthquakes hit SW portion of country
Yonhap is reporting that two quakes jolted South Korea's southwest on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage. The first 3.9-magnitude quake hit Iksan at 4:31 a.m. The second 1.7-magnitude quake took place at 9:20 p.m.

Childbirths edge up in October
The number of childbirths in South Korea rose in October after falling for two straight months. This was good news for a country struggling with an aging population. Statistics Korea says some 36,900 babies were born, 1.1 percent more than in October 2014.
