Ring in the new year at Seongsan Sunrise Peak
Seongsan Sunrise Festival begins December 30

The 23rd Seongsan Sunrise Festival runs from December 30th through New Year’s Day at Seongsan Sunrise Peak in Seogwipo.

The theme this year is “Seongsan Sunrise, Jeju’s Morning.” On December 30th and 31st, a tour bus will ferry visitors around famous sites nearby and fishermen will demonstrate how to debone a sawedged perch, or “dageumbari.”

At midnight on the first day of 2016, fireworks displays will light the skies above the peak. Traditional wish-making ceremonies will follow a few hours later, just before the sun rises for the first time in the new year.

"일출봉에서 해맞이"…성산일출축제 30일 개막

새해 해맞이를 감상할 수 있는 제 23회 성산일출축제가
오는 30일부터 내년 1월 1일까지 서귀포시 성산읍 성산일출봉 일대에서 열립니다.

'제주의 아침, 성산일출'이라는 주제로 열리는 이번 축제에서 30일과 31일에는 성산 10경과 성산읍 관광명소를 둘러보는 일출투어버스와
다금바리 해체 공연 등이 예정돼 있습니다.

해가 바뀌는 1월 1일 새벽 0시에는 달집 태우기와 불꽃놀이가 진행되며
첫 해가 뜨기 직전인 오전 5시부터는 일출기원제, 새해소망 기원행사가 열립니다.
