Jeju Fire Festival again among nation’s ‘top festivals’

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has chosen the Jeju Fire Festival as one of Korea’s top festivals for the second year in a row.

The provincial government said the fire festival was included on the list of outstanding festivals for 2016 because of its high potential as a tourist attraction.

It has been highly praised for its modern take on the traditional custom of burning off old grass to mark the arrival of spring.

Next year’s Jeju Fire Festival will be from March 3rd to the 6th at Saebyeol Oreum in Bongseong-ri, Aewol-eup.

들불축제 2년 연속 대한민국 우수축제 선정

제주들불축제가 2년 연속 문화체육관광부가 지정하는
대한민국 우수축제로 선정됐습니다.

제주시에 따르면 문화체육관광부는 전국 지역축제 가운데 관광상품 가능성이 높은
제주들불축제를 올해에 이어 내년 대한민국 우수축제로 선정했습니다.

제주의 옛 목축문화인 방애를 현대적 감각에 맞게 재현한
들불축제는 대한민국 올해의 히트상품 대상에 선정된 바 있습니다.

내년 제주들불축제는 3월 3일부터 나흘동안 애월읍 봉성리 새별오름 일대에서
개최될 예정입니다.
