Billions to be spent on Jeju ‘batdam’ projects
Black stone walls gained international recognition in 2014
Various state-run projects incorporating Jeju’s traditional black stone walls will be conducted over the next three years.
Jeju “batdam” have been selected as the theme around which the government’s sixth village urbanization project is being run. The three-year project will begin around the end of this year.
Jeju City and Seogwipo will jointly operate various events, including festivals and hands-on programs, with the 4-billion-won fund that has been granted for the project.
In 2014, Jeju “batdam” were recognized by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage system.

대통령직속 지역발전위원회는 지난해 말 실시한
지역행복생활권선도사업 전국 공모에서
제주밭담을 활용한 농촌마을 6차 산업화 사업을
최종 선정했습니다.
이에따라 제주시와 서귀포시는 올해 하반기부터 향후 3년간
40억여 원을 지원받아 밭담축제와 밭담 자연치유 건강체험프로램 같은
밭담을 활용한 체험 프로그램들을 운영할 계획입니다.
