JoongAng Media to buy resort complex on Jeju
Bokwang Group operates Phoenix Island in Seongsan-eup

JoongAng Media Network, the owner of the daily newspaper JoongAng Ilbo and other affiliates, is set to buy Bokwang Jeju, the operator of a resort complex in Seongsan-eup.

Hong Seok-hyeon (홍석현), president of JoongAng Media Network, announced Friday that legal procedures were underway for its acquisition of Bokwang and Bokwang Jeju.

Bokwang Group is the current operator of Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang, Gangwondo Province… and the resort at Phoenix Island in Seongsan-eup. However since 2015 the group’s affiliates have incurred financial losses.
