Helicopter on standby for firefighting operations
Stationed in Sumang-ri through mid-May

A Korea Forest Service helicopter is now on emergency standby for firefighting operations in Jeju.

Provincial officials say they have stationed the aircraft at a heliport in Sumang-ri (수망리), Namwon-eup (남원읍) to prepare for possible forest fires, which are common during the dry spring months up through mid-May.

It is capable of carrying up to 3,000 liters of water at a time, and will be used in extinguishing fires wherever they are on the island.

신속한 산불 진화와 대응을 위해 산림청 산불진화헬기가 배치됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 산불조심기간인 5월 중순까지
남원읍 수망리 헬기 계류장에 산림청 산불진화헬기를 상시 배치한다고
밝혔습니다.

산불진화헬기는 산불 위험 지역에 대한 공중 감시와 함께
불이 났을 때에는 한번에 3천리터에 물을 실어
초기에 진화하는 역할을 담당하게 됩니다.
