Rival parties agree on electoral map
Electoral districts in Jeju to remain unchanged

Just 50 days before the April 13th general elections, ruling and opposition parties on Tuesday reached a last-minute deal on redrawing electoral districts around the country, and Jeju’s electoral map is expected to remain unchanged.

Under the agreement, the number of national assembly seats chosen by direct votes will increase from 246 to 253. Another 47 will be picked through a proportional representation system. Out of the total 300 seats, three will be allocated to lawmakers elected here in Jeju: two from Jeju City and one from Seogwipo.

The National Assembly is expected to pass the proposal at a plenary session this weekend.

선거구 획정안 '타결'…제주 3석 '그대로'

여야가 극적으로 선거구 획정안 협상을 타결한 가운데
제주는 기존 선거구 그대로 적용될 전망입니다.

새누리당 김무성 대표와 더불어민주당 김종인 비상대책위원회 대표는
오늘 오전 양자회동을 통해 제20대 국회의 선거구 획정기준 합의서에 서명했습니다.

이번에 확정된 내용을 보면 지역구 국회의원 253석과 비례대표 47석으로
19대 선거구와 비교해 지역구 7석을 늘렸습니다.

또 인구기준일을 2015년 10월 31일로
인구 상.하한선은 14만명 이상 28명 이하로 정했습니다.

이에따라 제주지역의 경우 기존 3석에 변동이 없게 됐으며
현재 제주시 갑, 을, 서귀포시를 그대로 적용할 것으로 예상됩니다.

여야는 이같은 내용을 담은 선거법 개정안을 오는 26일 본회의에서 처리하기로 했습니다.
