Growth in international arrivals outpaces domestic arrivals
New report released on tourism trends to the island

Over the past ten years, growth in international arrivals in Jeju has surpassed the growth in domestic arrivals.

A new report… by the Honam Regional Office of Statistics… shows that the number of non-Korean travelers to Jeju rose seven-fold in the last decade… while the number of Korean visitors only doubled in the same period.

The number of Chinese tourists, in particular, rose 19-fold… and accounted for 85 percent of all foreign travelers to the island.

Korean visitors to the island today constitute 80 percent of all travelers here… down from 92 percent a decade ago. The number of vacationers coming from the mainland on school trips has dropped by half… but the number of Korean tourists visiting the island for leisure and sports has increased fivefold in the last ten years, according to the report.

최근 10년 동안 제주를 방문한 외국인 관광객 증가세가
내국인 증가세를 앞지른 것으로 나타났습니다.

호남지방통계청에 따르면
제주를 찾은 외국인 관광객은
10년 사이 7배 가까이 늘어
2배 증가한 내국인보다 증가폭이 큰 것으로 나타났습니다.

특히 중국인 관광객이 19배 증가하며
전체 외국인 관광객의 85퍼센트를 차지하고 있습니다.

이로 인해 내국인 관광객 비중이
10년 전 92퍼센트에서 80퍼센트로 줄었고
이 가운데 수학여행 방문이 절반 이상 감소한 반면
레저스포츠 관광객은 5배 정도 증가했습니다.
