Party leaders visit Jeju in last-minute effort to secure votes
Analysts predicting close races on the island

Leaders of both the ruling and opposition parties visited Jeju Monday as part of last-minute efforts to secure votes in Wednesday’s elections.

Saenuri Party chairman Kim Moo-sung began his Jeju visit by joining Seogwipo candidate Kang Ji-yong for some campaign activities. He then traveled north to Jeju City to help bolster support for his party’s two candidates here ? Bu Sang-il and Yang Chi-seok.

Head of the main opposition Minjoo Party Kim Jong-in also arrived in Jeju Monday to help Jeju’s liberal candidates Kang Chang-il, Oh Young-hoon, and Wi Seong-gon.

300 lawmakers will be elected nationwide Wednesday to four-year terms in the National Assembly. Jeju City has two representatives and Seogwipo, one. Analysts are predicting very close races in all three of Jeju’s electoral districts.

D-2, 여·야 대표 제주서 동시에 지지호소

4.13 총선을 이틀 앞두고 여야 대표들이 동시에 제주를 찾아 지원 유세를 벌이고 있습니다.

새누리당 김무성 대표는 오늘 오후 제주에 도착한 후 서귀포 강지용 후보를 시작으로 부상일. 양치석 후보의 유세를 지원하며 유권자들의 지지를 호소하고 있습니다.

또 더불어민주당 김종인 위원장 역시 오늘 오후 제주에 도착해 내일 오전까지 제주에 머물며 강창일.오영훈.위성곤 후보의 지원유세를 통해 한표를 부탁하고 있습니다.

이처럼 두 대표가 선거 막바지에 제주를 방문한데에는 3개 선거구 모두 초접전 양상을 보이면서 지지층 결집은 물론 부동층의 향배가 큰 변수로 작용할 것으로 예상되기 때문으로 분석되고 있습니다.
