Jeju ‘hwangchil’ products to be exported
Province spending \3b to develop items based on Korean dendropanax tree

The province’s initiative to develop businesses that use local products is bearing fruit, with a flurry of export deals for products made from the hwangchil tree, known in English as the Korean Dendropanax.

According to the provincial government, over 70,000 US dollars worth of export deals were signed recently at an international food and beverage exhibition in Shanghai, China… for Jeju hwangchil sparkling water and hwangchil mackerel.

Earlier this year, a Japanese company inked a similar deal worth 30,000 dollars.

The hwangchil development initiative began last year. The provincial government plans to invest a total of 3 billion won through 2018 to develop the local specialty.

Talks are currently underway for further exports of hwangchil facial masks and soaps to Japan, mainland China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

제주황칠사업단 수출계약 잇따라 체결

제주시가 향토산업육성사업으로 추진하고 있는 황칠사업이
잇따라 수출계약를 체결하는 등 성과를 거두고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 최근 중국 상하이에서 열린 국제식품박람회에
제주자원식물 황칠사업단이 황칠스파클링워터와 황칠고등어 등 7만달러가 넘는 황칠제품 수출 계약을 성사시켰습니다.

이와함께 지난 3월에는 일본수입업체와 3만달러의 계약을 체결했습니다.

한편 제주황칠사업단은 현재 황칠마스크와 황칠비누 등 황칠제품을 일본과 중국, 대만, 베트남 등에 30억 규모의 수출협의를 진행하고 있습니다.
