Jeju’s service sector grew at the fastest pace in the nation last quarter.

According to the latest report by Statistics Korea, the service sector index in Jeju hit 121.6 in the first three months of 2016. That’s 6.2 percent higher than in the first quarter of 2015, and more than twice the average growth rate in the country, which was 2.8 percent.

Real estate services grew the most, at 17 percent. That led to a rise in loan demand, which created a 12 percent increase in sales of financial and insurance services.

The office attributed the growth in the service sector to increases in Chinese tourists and real estate investors.

금융·보험업도 12% 늘었습니다.

통계청은 중국인 관광객 증가로 관광업의 호조세가 이어지고
부동산, 임대업 등이 서비스업 생산 증가세를 주도한 것으로 분석하고 있습니다.
