Household debt in Jeju hits record high
Up 36% to \8.7t in March

Household debt in Jeju continues to expand at a significant pace.

According to the Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea, as of March this year, Jeju’s total household debt stood at 8.7 trillion won. That’s 36 percent higher than the previous month and the highest level on record.

Mortgage loans were especially high in the Seogwipo area due to payment due dates for several new apartments in the region. Household lending there rose 52 percent as large sums of money were borrowed to cover those payments.

Land sales also rose in March ? non-housing mortgage loans rose 35 percent compared to February.

도내 가계대출 규모가
꾸준히 증가하고 있습니다.

한국은행 제주본부에 따르면
지난 3월 기준 제주지역 가계대출잔액은 8조 7천억 원으로
전달보다 36% 증가하며 계속해서 사상 최고치를 경신하고 있습니다.

특히 서귀포시 일부 아파트의 중도금 납부 수요가 증가하며
예금은행에서의 주택담보대출이 전달보다 52% 증가했습니다.

이와 함께 토지 거래가 증가하면서
주택을 제외한 부동산을 담보로 하는 기타대출도
지난 2월보다 1천 500억 원, 35% 늘었습니다.
