Samdal Wind Farm sale falls through
Thai company opts not to proceed with purchase

The controversial sale of the Samdal Wind Farm to a foreign company has fallen through.

Despite approval by the provincial wind farm screening committee in March to sell the farm, the provincial government says the sale is no longer possible.

One of the main reasons is said to be the pull-out of the Thai company that was to buy it. That happened after representatives of that firm conducted an on-site inspection of the property.

Hanshin Energy, the operator of the Samdal Wind Farm, had planned to sell the site to the Thai company on the back of huge operational losses. Opponents to that plan argued that the sale would lead to locally-made profits being sent overseas.

삼달풍력 지분 해외 매각 신청에 대해 최종 불가 판정을 내렸습니다.

또 지분 취득을 희망했던 태국 기업이
현장 실사후 투자 의사를 철회한 것으로 알려지면서
매각불가 결정에 결정적인 요인으로 작용했습니다.

삼달풍력 사업자인 한신에너지는
최근 적자난 타개를 위해 태국 기업에
지분의 30%를 매각할 계획이었습니다.
