Loan Sharks Face Crackdown
Report center open for Illegal private loans

A temporary reporting center has opened to allow Jeju residents to request relief from financial distress caused by illegal private loans.

The hope is that this initiative will prevent similar problems in the future.

The provincial government says the center was formed on the back of a recent ruling that lowered the cap on interest rates on private loans
from 34.9 percent to 27.9, which is likely to spur more borrowing.

The center will be open until next month. Victims can request for relief support or seek financial advice.

The province hopes the scheme will help to crackdown on unregistered private loan companies, illegal debt collectors and companies that illegally advertise on behalf of loan sharks.

불법 채권 추심업체, 불법 대부 광고 업체 등입니다.
