Employment rate inches up in May
Strong gains in travel, construction industries

Jeju’s employment rate inched up in May, on the back of a booming construction industry and a rise in tourist arrivals.

According to the Jeju branch of the Honam (호남) Regional Statistical Office, the employment rate here reached 68.6 percent in May. That’s 0.7 percentage points higher than a year ago.

By industry, employment rose the most in the travel industry at 16 percent… followed by 13 percent in the construction industry.

Meanwhile, Jeju’s unemployment rate stood at 1.8 percent last month… down 0.4 points from a year earlier.

지난달 도내 고용률 소폭 상승

건설경기 호황과 관광객 증가로 제주도내 고용률이 소폭 상승했습니다.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달 제주지역의 고용률은 68.6%로 지난해 같은 기간보다 0.7%p 상승했습니다.

산업별로 보면 여행업 등 개인 공공서비스업이 지난해보다 16% 증가해 가장 큰 증가폭을 보였고 다음이 건설업으로 13% 입니다.

실업률은 1.8%로 지난해 같은 기간보다 0.4%p 감소했습니다.
