Chinese traveler arrested for assault at Jeju Airport
Man without visa attempted to board flight to Seoul

Officers from Jeju Seobu Police Station have arrested a thirty-year-old Chinese man surnamed “Heo” for assaulting an immigration officer at Jeju International Airport.

The incident took place on the 15th, when the man tried to board a flight to Seoul from Jeju without a visa. He was told that Jeju is the only region in Korea for which visa-free travel is allowed and he was denied permission to board the flight. This reportedly angered the man, who eventually disrupted airport operations by hitting the immigration officer and kicking his chair.

제주서부경찰서는 지난 15일 제주국제공항에서
출입국관리사무소 직원에게 폭력을 휘두른 중국인 30살 허 모 씨를 체포해 공무집행 방해 혐의로 구속했습니다.

경찰에 따르면 허 씨는 무사증으로 제주에 입국해
국내선 항공편을 타고 김포공항에 가려다 '무비자로 다른 지방에 갈 수 없다'고 설명하는 출입국 관리사무소 직원 40살 박 모 씨를 때리고
의자를 발로 차며 행패를 부린 혐의를 받고 있습니다.
