Affordable public housing plan announced
Rents under ￦100,000 for 'Jeju Citizen Welfare Town’

The provincial government plans to build public housing with very affordable monthly rents in its newly proposed “Jeju Citizen Welfare City.”

Governor Won Heeryong said at a Thursday press conference that the province is moving ahead with its affordable public housing plan for young people, the elderly and the general populace.

Won said monthly rents will be priced at under 100,000 won. In addition, the province is currently working to extend the maximum lease period to 20 years, up from the standard six years.

All parking spaces in the proposed housing complex will be underground while the first and second floors will be used for facilities including a child daycare center and sports facilities.

Once the local government finalizes the project, officials will seek out public opinion on the Welfare Town plan.

제주시민복지타운 부지에 공공임대인 행복주택 건설을 추진하고 있다고 밝히고 젊은 층과 서민에게 파격적인 수준으로 임대할 예정이라고 말했습니다.

임대비용을 한달에 10만원 이하로 낮추고 임대기간은 기본 6년이지만
최장 20년까지 확대하는 방안도 검토중이라고 밝혔습니다.

또 주차공간을 모두 지하에 배치하고 1.2층은 어린이집이나 스포츠센터와 같은 공공용으로 분양하겠다는 계획을 제시했습니다.

이와 함께 정부안이 확정되면 도민의견을 듣는 공론화과정도 거치겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
