Jeju water deemed ‘potable’
Samples met all 11 quality standards

Local water has been confirmed "potable" by the Jeju Provincial Water Resources Department. This was confirmed after testing a number of sites around the island in the first half of 2016.

Officials collected samples from 17 water purification plants and 69 village water supply facilities, which then met all 11 quality standards for drinkability.

Researchers found either very low levels or no substances harmful to human health, including viruses, E. coli bacteria, lead and mercury.

In June of this year, Jeju’s underground water became the first in the nation to receive re-certification as drinkable by the Korea Water and Wastewater Works Association.

먹는물 기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났습니다.

수자원본부에 따르면 올 상반기
도내 17개 정수장과 69군데 마을상수도를 대상으로 한 수시검사에서
모두 먹는물 기준치에 적합했습니다.

세부 검사 결과는 일반세균과 총대장균,
납, 수은 등 건강상 유해물질 11개가 검출되지 않거나
기준치 이하로 나타났습니다.

제주 지하수는 지난 6월에도 상하수도협회로부터 전국 최초로
지하수 재인증을 받기도 했습니다.
