Government aids farms facing drought
Support begins with western regions

In response to the early stages of a drought that Jeju is currently experiencing, the province has started to provide much-needed water to rural areas.

Beginning early last week, Jeju provided emergency water supplies to farms in the western regions of the island, including Hallim (한림), Aewol (애월) and Hangyeong (한경).

Officials say if the drought worsens, more water will be supplied to the hardest-hit areas.

The provincial government will also collaborate with producer organizations and the fire department to ensure that the water is distributed efficiently.

초기 가뭄 현상, 급수지원 대책 마련

제주시가 초기 가뭄현상이 이어지고 있는 가운데
농작물 피해 예방을 위한 급수대책을 마련합니다.

제주시는 우선 지난 2일부터 한림과 애월, 한경 등 서부지역 수원지를 중심으로 양수기와 물빽 등 급수시설을 설치해 운영에 들어갔습니다.

특히 가뭄이 지속될 경우 농업용 공공 관정을 전면 개방하는 등
급수지원 지역을 점차 확대해 나갈 계획입니다.

이와함께 생산자단체와 소방서 등 유관기관과 협업을 통해
급수대책을 마련할 방침입니다.
