Land deals decline in volume
Down 56% in July year-on-year

The amount of land being bought and sold on the island is on the decline, in part due to new restrictions and monitoring of real estate speculation.

During the first seven months of 2016, a total of some 59 million square meters of land was bought and sold in Jeju, according to the provincial government. This is down 3.9 percent from a year ago.

In July alone, the volume of land transactions dropped 56 percent compared to the same period last year… to 5.7 million square meters.

The on-going crackdown on real estate speculation and various restrictions are being seen as the main reasons for the decline.

과열 현상을 보였던 제주지역 토지거래가 줄어들고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면, 올들어 지난달까지 거래된 토지는
5천 971만여 제곱미터로 지난해 같은기간보다 면적기준 3.9% 감소했습니다.

특히 지난 한달간 거래된 토지는 576만 제곱미터로
전년 동기대비 56% 줄어들었습니다.

제주도는 부동산투기집중단속과 토지분할 제한지침 등으로
투기성 거래가 줄어들고 소규모의 실수요 토지거래가
주를 이룬 것으로 분석하고 있습니다.
