BOK holds August benchmark at 1.25%
Local economy‘likely’to face continuing uncertainty

The Bank of Korea on Thursday left its benchmark rate unchanged for a second straight month, a move that was widely expected.

The decision to hold the rate at a record-low 1.25 percent indicates the central bank is maintaining a wait-and-see approach. Experts suggest this is in light of a rate cut in June and a subsequent fiscal stimulus package.

The BOK's monetary policy board noted some improvements in the domestic market, but said the local economy will likely continue to face many uncertainties.

이번달 기준 금리를 현재의 연 1.25%로 동결하기로 했습니다.

이같은 기준금리 동결은 가계부채에 대한 부담과
추경효과를 지켜보자는 판단이 작용한 것으로
지난 6월 사상 최저인 연 1.25%로 떨어진 뒤
2개월 째 같은 수준을 유지하고 있습니다.
