Good marks for Jeju golf tourism
500 surveyed cite price as overall weakness

A study from the Jeju Development Institute says that Jeju’s golf tourists rank Jeju’s golf courses as satisfactory but claim that tours are overpriced.

From February of this year researcher Choe Yeong-geun (최영근) conducted a three-month survey, interviewing over 500 respondents.

He found that 55.1 percent said they were satisfied with their golf tours while 14.1 percent were dissatisfied with high prices.

In regards to a possible halt in the government tax breaks for local golf courses, 78.1 percent of respondents opposed the idea.

Choi suggested lowering prices at the local golf clubs would raise the competitiveness of Jeju’s golf tours.

골프관광객들은 제주의 골프환경에 비교적 만족하면서도
높은 가격을 부정적인 요소로 꼽는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주발전연구원 최영근 전문연구위원이 지난 2월부터 석달간
제주를 찾은 골프관광객 526명을 대상으로 조사한 결과
응답자의 55.1%가 제주골프관광에 만족하는 것으로 조사됐습니다.

불만족은 14.4%로 비싼 골프비용과 편의시설 이용료를 가장 큰 원인으로 지목했습니다.

또 개별소비세와 관련세금의 부과에 대한 질문에서는
응답자의 78.1%가 반대한다고 응답했습니다.

이에 따라 최영근 연구위원은 파격적인 골프비용 인하를 통한
골프관광의 경쟁력을 높여야 한다고 주장했습니다.
