Majority of agricultural corporations ‘not in operation’
250 being used for non-farming purposes

According to a new report, more than half of Jeju’s agricultural corporations are not in operation.

Officials surveyed 2,658 in Jeju and found that only 46 percent were actually being run.

They also discovered that 422 did not meet establishment criteria and that 250 were being used for other purposes, such as accommodation facilities and real estate agencies.

Provincial officials say they will dissolve agricultural corporations that are being used as a means to engage in other types of business.

농업법인 절반이상 '미운영'…목적외 사업도 수두룩

제주도내 영농조합법인과 농업회사법인 2천여 곳 가운데 절반 이상이 설립등기 후 운영을 하지 않는 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주도가 지난 5월부터 도내 설립등기된 영농조합법인과 농업회사법인 2천 658곳을 실태조사한 결과 46%인 1천 2백여개소만 운영하고 있고 절반이 넘는 1천 4백여 개소는 운영을 하지 않는 것으로 조사됐습니다.

운영 법인 가운데 422개소는 구성원 정족수 미달 등 설립요건을 충족하지 않았고
250여개소는 숙박업과 부동산매매업 등 목적외 사업을 하고 있는 것으로 드러났습니다.

제주도는 목적외 사업을 하고 있는 법인에 대해서는 해산명령을 청구할 계획입니다.
