More freight being handled at local seaports
Total up 15% in 2014 to nearly 14.3m tons

More freight each year is passing through island seaports.

Local authorities say 14 million 280 thousand tons of containers were loaded or unloaded last year. That's 15 percent more than the year before.

The seaports handled 10 million tons of freight in 2010, 11 million 300 thousand in 2011, and 11 million 700 thousand in 2012.

Seventeen percent more cargo went through Jeju Port last year - that was the largest increase. (성산) Seongsan Harbor handled 15 percent more, while Seogwipo Pport and Hwasoon Harbor each handled 12 percent more freight.



제주항만 물동량 꾸준히 늘어

제주 항만 물동량은 꾸준히 증가하고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 지난해 항만물동량은
1천 428만톤으로 전년도에 비해 15% 증가했습니다.

특히 지난 2010년 1천만톤, 2011년 1천 130만톤,
2012년 1천 170톤 등 해마다 증가추세를 보이고 있습니다.

항만별로 증가폭을 보면 제주항이 17%로 가장 높았고,
다음이 성산포항 15%, 서귀포항과 화순항이 각 12%로 뒤를 이었습니다.
