180 arrested for organized crime through end of October
Offenses range from loansharking to assault


The Jeju Provincial Police Agency arrested 180 people through the end of October this year for engaging in organized crime, and 58 of them have been imprisoned.


That’s over 36 percent more arrests than during the first ten months of 2015.


83 percent of those arrested were under the age of 30, and 44.6 percent were not employed in any particular job.


They were arrested for loansharking, interfering with work at construction sites, and threatening, robbing, and/or assaulting small business owners.

제주지방경찰청이 올들어 지난달까지 생활주변폭력배에 대한 집중단속을 벌여 180명을 검거하고 이 가운데 58명을 구속했습니다.


이같은 검거인원은 지난해보다 36.4% 늘어난 것입니다.


특히 검거된 조직폭력배의 경우 30대 이하가 전체의 83%를, 또 특별한 직업이 없는 비율도 44.6%를 차지했습니다.


이들은 고금리 불법 대부업과 각종 공사현장에서의 업무 방해, 영세상인들을 상대로 금품갈취나 폭행.협박을 일삼은 혐의로 검거됐습니다.
