BOK holds key rate steady at 1.25%
Decision comes despite Fed’s rate hike
The Bank of Korea has opted to keep its key interest rate steady, despite the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision to raise a key rate.
BOK Governor Lee Ju-yeol and the rest of the monetary policy board decided to hold the key rate at 1.25 percent during a Thursday meeting.
Board members said that in making their decision, they took into account uncertainties at home and abroad, including the rate hike in the U.S. and household debt in Korea.
The BOK has kept its key rate steady at the record low 1.25 percent since June.
