Seongsan-eup residents ‘plan to file criminal charges’
Committee adamant in opposition to construction of 2nd airport

Residents in Seongsan-eup residents plan to file criminal charges against the developers of the island’s second airport, saying the feasibility study for the facility was poorly done.

In a Friday morning press conference, members of a committee opposing the airport questioned the feasibility research, including estimates for the number of foggy days in the region and the extent of noise damage the planes will cause.

The committee said area residents also did not back Governor Won Heeryong’s suggested formation of a consultative group of representatives from the government and the public. The governor wanted that group to work on easing airport-related conflicts. Committee members instead said the government must give up on the plan to build a second airport.

최근 제2공항의 사전타당성 검토 용역이 부실하게 이뤄졌다는 주장이 제기된 것과 관련해 성산읍 주민들이 해당 용역진들을 형사고발하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

제2공항 성산읍 반대대책위원회는 오늘 오전 도민의 방에서 기자회견을 열고 제2공항 사전타당성 검토 용역은 정석비행장의 안개일수와 소음피해 등 여러 부분에서 부실하게 이뤄졌다며 이같이 주장했습니다.

이들은 또 원희룡 도지사가 발표한 주민 갈등 해결을 위한 민관협의기구도
주민 동의가 전혀 없었다며 제주도는 앞서 나가지 말고 제2공항에 관한 사업을 전면 중단하라고 강조했습니다.
