Flu outbreak hits local schools hard
Nearly twice the number of flu patients compared to early December

A flu outbreak is spreading very quickly among local students.

According to the provincial office, among every 1,000 outpatients on the island, some 61.4 are suffering with the flu. That’s almost double the number from early this month, which was 34.

Elementary, middle, and high school students are the hardest hit. Authorities say the best way to avoid becoming sick is to pay special attention to personal hygiene.

Provincial officials also say anyone 65 and older or the very young who still haven’t had their flu vaccinations should get them as soon as possible.

제주특별자치도에 따르면 최근 외래환자 1천명당 인플루엔자 의사환자수는 61.4명으로 이달 초의 34명에 비해 갑절 가까이 늘었습니다.

특히 초.중.고등학생 사이에서 빠르게 확산되면서 개인위생관리에 각별한 주의가 요구되고 있습니다.

제주도는 예방접종을 받지 않은 65살 이상 어르신이나 소아의 경우 지금이라도 서둘러 줄 것을 당부하고 있습니다.
