Single-person households account for 27% of total
Increasing number of men living alone

Single-person households constitute nearly three out of every ten households on the island.

According to the Honam Regional Statistics Office, 58,000 of the 220,000 households in Jeju last year were made up of one person living alone. That’s 27 percent of the total.

The number of single men living alone is growing by the year. That tally went from 15,000 in 2005, to 19,000 in 2010, and to 29,000 last year.

Age-wise, Jeju City has a large number of single-person households with people in their 40s. Seogwipo has many in their 50s as well as 70s and older.

제주지역 10가구 가운데 3가구는 1인 가구인 것으로 조사됐습니다.

호남지방통계청에 따르면 지난해 기준으로 제주지역 22만 가구 가운데 27%인 5만 8천가구가 1인 가구로 집계됐습니다.

특히 남성 1인 가구의 경우 2005년 1만 5천, 2010년 1만 9천, 지난해 2만9천 가구로 해마가 증가하고 있습니다.

지역별로는 제주시는 40대가, 서귀포시는 50대와 70대 이상의 1인 가구가 많은 것으로 집계됐습니다.
