Province had purchased 440 hectares of the forestland through last year

The provincial government is setting aside five billion won in national funding this year to buy privately owned “gotjawal” forestland.

Officials are prioritizing the purchase of “gotjawal” forests in Jocheon and Hangyeong because of their proximity to national forests as well as their unique ecological value. The government is offering sellers a 10 percent reduction in the transfer tax if the province is able to complete the purchase by the end of the year.

The local government acquired a total of 440 hectares of previously privately owned gotjawal land between 2009 and the end of last year. It plans to purchase another 950 hectares by the end of 2023.

道, 50억 들여 사유 곶자왈 추가 매입

제주특별자치도가 올해 국비 50억원을 확보해 사유지 곶자왈을 추가 매입합니다.

생태등급 1,2등급이면서 국유림과 인접한 곳으로 조천과 한경 곶자왈 등이 우선 매입 대상입니다. 연말까지 곶자왈을 매수하면 부과된 양도소득세의 10%가
감면되는 인센티브도 제공됩니다.

제주도는 2009년부터 지난해까지 사유지 곶자왈 440헥타르를 매입했고 2023년까지 950헥타르로 확대할 계획입니다.
