‘Silver Housing’ for seniors in Jeju Citizen Welfare Town area
Seoul to subsidize construction of 80 units

National authorities have decided to build special housing units for the elderly in the Jeju Citizen Welfare Town area.

The land ministry designated Jeju as one of the sites for this type of development, dubbed “Silver Housing.”

A senior citizens’ welfare center will be on the lower floors with long-term public residential units above them. The national government will pay for up to 85 percent of the construction.

Accordingly, the provincial government will add 80 “Silver Housing” units to its plan for public housing in the Jeju Citizen Welfare Town.

시민복지타운에 실버주택 80세대 추가 조성

제주시민복지타운에 들어서는 행복주택에 저소득층 어르신들을 위한 '실버주택'이 들어섭니다.

국토교통부는 저소득 노인층을 대상으로 주거와 복지서비스를 함께 제공하는 공공실버주택 사업지로 제주를 포함했습니다.

공공실버주택은 저층부에 복지관을 설치하고 상층부에 주택을 건설하는 공공임대주택 건설개념으로 건축비의 85%를 국가에서 지원됩니다.

이에 따라 제주도는 이번에 추진하는 제주시민복지타운에 기존 행복주택에 공공실버주택 80세대를 추가 조성한다는 계획입니다.
