Ed. superintendent to work on attracting more school trips
Lee Seok-mun will encourage colleagues to choose Jeju as destination

The island’s superintendent of education says he will try and help the local tourism industry, which is struggling due to the sudden drop in Chinese arrivals.

During a Thursday press conference, Lee Seok-mun said he would explain the situation to his colleagues at an upcoming meeting of the nation’s superintendents of education. He will also ask them to encourage schools in their districts to choose Jeju as a destination for school trips.

Lee added that his office would ask school groups that do come to the island to include April Third Incident materials and stops as part of their travels.

이석문 제주도교육감이 최근 중국인 관광객 감소로 제주 여행업계가 어려움을 겪고 있는 것과 관련해 수학 여행단을 적극적으로 유치합니다.

이 교육감은 오늘(16일) 도교육청 기자실을 찾아 교육감협의회에 참석해 제주 상황을 설명하고 각급 학교에서 수학여행지로 제주를 선택해 주도록 협조를 구하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

또 제주 수학여행단 프로그램에 제주4.3 등과 관련된 내용도 포함해 주도록 요청하겠다고 덧붙였습니다.
