4. Beginning of season for ticks that carry SFTS virus
‘Apply repellant and don’t lie down on grass’

The ticks that carry the SFTS virus are beginning to come out, so the provincial government is advising people to take care to avoid getting bit by them when outside.

Officials say nobody should lie directly on the grass and that everyone should apply tick repellant.

After any outdoor activities, people are advised to shower and wash their clothes.

Last year in Jeju, eight people were infected with the virus that causes SFTS, which is short for severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome.

또 야외활동 후에는 반드시 옷을 털어 세탁하고 샤워나 목욕으로 청결상태를 유지할 것을 강조하고 있습니다.

SFTS는 진드기 매개 바이러스성 감염병으로 지난해 제주에서 8명의 환자가 발생했습니다.
