Council session ends
Speaker urges airlines not to raise fares

The provincial council’s 350th provisional session ended Friday after 11 days of deliberations.

In his closing remarks, Speaker (신관홍) Shin Gwan-hong urged airlines to reverse their decision to raise fares. He said if they go through with it, Jeju farm products will cost more to ship and Jeju vacations will be more expensive. He therefore urged them to scrap the plan so as not to, in his words, “disappoint local citizens or disrupt local life anymore.”

Meanwhile, lawmakers passed a bill giving the Citrus Marketing and Shipping Association the responsibility to set prices for mandarins destined for processing. Among the 32 council members on-hand for the vote, 30 voted in favor, one voted against, and one abstained.

제350회 임시회 폐회…"항공요금 인상 철회해야"

제350회 제주특별자치도의회 임시회가 11일간의 회기를 마치고 오늘(14일) 폐회했습니다.

신관홍 의장은 폐회사를 통해 제주기점 항공사들의 항공요금 상 철회를 촉구했습니다.

신 의장은 항공요금 인상으로 인한 관광비용 상승도 문제지만, 제주 농산물 운송료 부담이 더 큰 문제라며, 더이상 제주도민들에게 실망과 상처를 입히지 않도록 항공요금 인상을 철회해줄 것을 요구했습니다.

한편, 가공용 감귤 수매가격을 감귤출하연합회가 결정하는 내용이 담긴 감귤생산과 유통 조례 개정안은 재적의원 32명 가운데 찬성 30명, 반대, 1명, 기권 1명으로
통과됐습니다.
