Former Indonesian president Megawati to attend Jeju Forum
Event begins May 31 at ICC Jeju

Former Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri will attend the Jeju Forum.

The forum organizing office announced Ms. Megawati’s intention to attend the June first opening ceremony and the world leader session. Her representatives say she will discuss cooperation in Asia and strategies to work toward a common future.

Ms. Megawati was the first woman to serve as president of Indonesia. She was the country’s fifth president from July 2001 to October 2004.

The provincial government made her an honorary Jeju citizen in September 2015 for her contributions to exports of (삼다수) SamDaSoo bottled water to Indonesia and for her efforts to spread the word internationally about Jeju’s natural attractions.

다음달 말 개막하는 제주포럼에 메가와티 전 인도네시아 대통령이 참석합니다.

제주포럼 사무국은 메가와티 전 대통령이 6월 1일 열리는 제주포럼 개회식과 세계지도자세션에 참석해 협력적 아시아의 담론을 제시하고 공동의 미래를 만들어 나갈 방안을 논의한다 밝혔습니다.

메가와티 전 대통령은 인도네시아 최초 여성 대통령으로 2001년 7월부터 2004년 10월까지 5대 대통령을 지냈습니다.

특히 제주도의 자연환경 우수성을 국제사회에 알리고 삼다수 인도네시아 수출에 기여한 공로로 2015년 9월 명예제주도민에 선정됐습니다.
