Seongpanak Rest Area to be torn down
Owner loses lawsuit against Jeju City

Seongpanak Rest Area, which has stood on the slopes of Hallasan Mountain for nearly 40 years, will be torn down.

Jeju City recently won a lawsuit against the rest area’s owner, only identified by his last name Kang. That suit had dragged on for four years.

Mr. Kang established the business in 1978. Jeju City has wanted to tear it down and create more parking for Hallasan National Park. Mr. Kang filed suit against that decision, but has now lost the case.

한라산 성판악휴게소가 40년 만에 철거됩니다.

제주시는 최근 성판악휴게소 운영자 강모씨를 상대로 한 토지인도 소송에서 승소함에 따라 지난 2013년부터 시작된 4년간의 소송이 마무리될 것으로 전망했습니다.

이에 따라 조만간 성판악휴게소 철거작업에 들어간다는 계획입니다.

제주시는 한라산국립공원내 주차시설을 확충하기 우해 지난 1978년부터 운영되던
성판악휴게소 철거 계획을 세웠지만 휴게소 운영자가 이에 불복해 소송을 제기했습니다.
