Proclamation ceremony for ‘Safe Community’ redesignation
1,000 attendees Tuesday at ICC Jeju

Local officials held a ceremony Tuesday in honor of Jeju’s third designation as a recognized Safe Community.

About 1,000 people attended the event at the International Convention Center. They included Koreans, like Jeju Governor Won Heeryong, and people from abroad, like Yoko Shiraishi, who is the chairman of the Japan International Safe Community Center.

Local officials declared that they would transform the island province into the island’s safest community by the year 2022. They said that by that time the safe, local residents will be able to realize the greater safety and security in their daily lives.

The island became the first region in Asia to attain the designation in 2007.

제주국제안전도시 3차공인 선포식 열려

제주도가 아시아 최초로 국제안전도시 3차 재공인을 받게 된 것을 기념하는 선포식이 오늘(19일) 오후 제주국제컨벤션센터에서 열렸습니다.

선포식에는 원희룡 제주도지사를 비롯해 요코 시라이시 일본 국제안전도시지원센터장 등 국내·외 안전도시 관계자 1천여 명이
참석했습니다.

제주도는 오늘 선포식에서 청정 도시 제주를 세계에서 가장 안전한 도시로 만들 것을 선언하며 오는 2022년까지 국제안전도시를 위한 도민 체감형 안전도시 사업 추진의 뜻을 밝혔습니다.
