‘Redistricting issue cannot wait’
Governor urges 11 lawmakers to resume positions on committee

Governor Won Heeryong has asked the 11 provincial council members who resigned from their positions on a redistricting committee to return to the group.

In a Wednesday morning press conference, the governor argued that there was no time to waste on resolving the issue. He therefore politely urged the lawmakers to resume their work.

He added that he would accept without reservation the recommendations of the committee.

The committee chair, Gang Chang-sik, responded by saying that he would discuss the governor’s request with the other councilors.

원 지사 "도의원선거구획정위원 복귀 요청"

원희룡 제주특별자치도지사가 사퇴를 선언한 제주도의원 선거구획정위원의 복귀를 요청했습니다.

원 지사는 오늘 오전 제주도청 기자실에서 기자회견을 갖고 선거구획정과 관련해 더 이상 시행착오를 거칠 시간이 없으며 현재 상태에서 최대한의 결과를 도출해야 하는 만큼 도의원선거구획정위원 11명의 복귀를 정중하게 요청한다고 말했습니다.

그리고 선거구획정위원회에서 제출한 획정안에 대해서는 조건없이 수용하겠다고 덧붙혔습니다.

이에 대해 강창식 선거구획정위원장은 조만간 위원들간 협의를 통해 복귀여부를 결정하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
