Province made \21b in calls to vote for island in 2010, 2011

Jeju was named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature seven years ago because it received more votes via telephone than other contenders, but it’s only now that the provincial government will finish paying off that phone bill.

The province will make the final 100-million-won payment at the beginning of next week.

In total, the province had government workers make 21 billion won in phone calls to vote for the island in 2010 and 2011. The telephone company knocked 4 billion off the total, meaning the province will have paid 17 billion won by next week.

제주도가 세계7대자연경관 선정을 위해 사용했던 전화 요금을 7년 만에 완납합니다.

제주도는 세계7대자연경관 투표를 위해 행정전화로 사용했던 요금 가운데
남은 1억 여 원을 25일쯤 완납할 예정입니다.

지난 2010년부터 2011년까지 2년 동안 제주도가 쓴 행정전화요금은
210억여 원으로 실제 납부액은 40억을 감면한 170억원에 달했습니다.
