Construction industry still struggling

New figures suggest consumption in Jeju is on the upswing.

According to data released by the Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea, the sales index at large retailers rose in August for the first time in six months.

Credit card purchases also increased.

On the other hand, construction orders fell 49.8 percent over the previous year, while the amount of land on which work began fell 37.9 percent.

제주경제 소비지표가 회복세를 보이고 있습니다.

한국은행 제주본부가 발표한 제주지역 실물경제 동향에 따르면 8월 중 대형소매점 판매액지수가 6개월만에 상승세로 전환했습니다.

또 신용카드 사용액도 계속해서 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났습니다.

반면 건설수주액과 건축착공면적은 지난해 같은 기간보다 각각 49.8%, 37.9% 감소해 대조를 보였습니다.
